Reading to your kids is one of the best gifts you can give them.

4. Reading creates a wonderful bond between parent and child.
5. Reading has been shown to improve school performance.

1. Read to them... Read to them... Read to them!
2. Have books readily available in your house... in the children's playroom, in their own room, etc. And keep them at a level the child can reach.
3. Let your child see you read. For older children, have a family reading time where you can all read together... either aloud or individually.
4. Recite nursery rhymes, and sing songs.
5. Play word and letter games... rhyming, and I spy, etc.
6. Turn off the TV!
